Today, I went to go see The Wedding Singer, the musical our school had put together this year. I loved last year’s version of Footloose, and this year’s musical was nearly equally as good. It was kind of interesting because I knew almost everyone that had a part in it, from the lead roles to the backup singers to the people that worked the technical aspects. I really wanted to take part this year, and I wish I had more time or would have made more time to do it as it looked like a lot of fun. I could always find myself acting sometime in college, but it’s probably doubtful when I could be involved in the technical side instead. Regardless, the musical was excellent. My life is bomb.

Pumped Up Kicks [A Capella Friday]

Yeah, so I missed an a capella video last week. Hopefully since everyone likes this song so much it’ll make up for it? :)

Today, I got accepted to Baylor. Baylor is my current school of choice, although I’ll most likely end up at A&M due to Baylor’s ridiculous tuition. Getting acceptance from Baylor definitely made my day though, especially since I wasn’t even aware that I was finished with the application process (which shows really how far behind I am). I need to start scholarships very soon to maximize my chances of becoming a Baylor bear! Sic ‘em! My life is bomb.

Today, I love Garner State Park. Garner is a camping area and popular vacation spot for many who live in Texas, and I’ve been every summer since 6th grade save for this past summer. I really hated having to miss it because it coincided with our church summer camp in July, and it’s looking like I’ll miss it again next summer as our current dates also interfere with my mission trip to Puerto Rico. Garner has a lot to do in comparison to other camping spots, even though the options seem to get dull as I get older. The biggest and most exciting is the dance that’s held nightly (in the summer) under the stars, where people two-step for hours and make memories. Over the years, I’ve found the dance to be more boring though and catered to little kids, and I prefer just hanging out in the river, which is the other major thing Garner has to offer. I’m really hoping I can make it back to Garner soon cause I miss it a ton, despite it’s decreasing interest for me. My life is bomb.

Today, I realized how much I love Christmas music. We’re starting holiday-themed music in choir in preparation for our concert roughly 6 weeks away. There’s not a lot of explanation for why I like Christmas music so much, other than it makes me happy and reminds me of one of the better holidays of the year. If you like Christmas, then you probably like Christmas music too. The only times I don’t like holiday music is when it’s played out of season, or played so much in season that you get tired of it before Christmas even arrives. Other than that, it’s my favorite. My life is bomb.

Today is/was Halloween, and I’m specifically thankful for that holiday. Though I haven’t done anything costume-wise since 5th grade, I like to look at all the little kids in costumes (or for those my age, make fun of them)  and help pass out candy because everyone knows that free candy is awesome. On most Halloweens I spend the night walking my neighborhood with friends, but tonight I drove around in the craziness and spent some time talking with Jenna and Allyson, two of my favorite people for sure. It’s last my last Halloween to be in town for a few years, and I liked how it went. My life is bomb.

Today, I like mountain climbing or simply hiking.  Although it’s not something I get to enjoy every day (obviously) I still like it enough to want to mention it. The only “mountains” I’ve ever hiked aren’t really mountains but are instead more like hills with rocks and dirt that people describe as mountains. These are all in state parks that I’ve camped at, such as Garner which has Ol’ Baldie (as well as a couple other whose names I don’t remember). Of course, the most exciting thing about hiking is making it to the top, which might be harder for some who are more physically challenged (…like myself…). With everything that I’ve hiked, there’s been a rock pile at the top so you can feel accomplished by leaving a rock you bring up top to signify that you actually made it. And then there’s the view, which in most cases is beautiful, especially in the evening. If you know me well, you know I don’t do a ton of physical activity, but climbing mountains and hiking definitely top the list of the physical activities I actually do partake in. My life is bomb.

Today (tonight) we held a choir halloween party at school. This was my first year to go and it was pretty fun. I was one of maybe 3 people that didn’t wear a costume so I looked dumb, but I came out with an idea on the spot and with some post-its, my letter jacket, and my iPhone, I decided to be Corey Winstead (another guy in choir). My idea apparently was pretty funny and I got around 4th or 5th place in the costume contest after barely even trying. Then we played hide-and-seek in the PAC, our auditorium, which was also fun. My life is bomb.

Today (tonight), Swing choir sang the national anthem at our last home football game before playoffs. As usual, not a big deal, but I was really looking forward to it (especially getting in to the game free) and it was our first chance to sing to all of our peers seeing as many of them don’t come to choir concerts. My life is bomb.

Today, I’m grateful for stress, as awful as it makes me feel. I’ve been pretty stressed out the last couple of months or so because I have a ton going on in my life. The biggest things that I’m stressing over are homework and college apps/scholarships, which I still haven’t entirely finished as of this writing. Junior year was my hardest and now senior year is my busiest, and I can’t seem to motivate myself to do anything with the small time that I do have. The good thing about stress is that it will eventually break a person, for good or bad, and it’s nearly broken me for the better. At some point I won’t be able to handle everything and I’ll  have to find a way to get more done. It’s not ideal, but it works. My life is bomb.

Today (tonight), Haley and Delaney came back to play for a Wednesday night service. The best part was that it was full band as usual, so it was basically like a band reunion night minus our old bass player Beth. Haley and Delaney are awesome though, and it’s a lot of fun to lead worship with them since we play songs a little different, have stronger vocals, and even play a lot of new songs. It was just a one night thing for now, but hopefully they’ll be back soon to play a few more times before I leave for college. My life is bomb.

Today, I’m thankful for color(s). This one definitely goes in the “things we take for granted” category as we never really think how different our lives would be without color. Black and white TV programs are boring enough for me, imagine how life would be if everything were that way. I suppose it’s better than being entirely blind, but I’m thinking maybe blind people can still visualize colors in their heads? I’m not sure. We also take for granted a lot of things that are based on colors that would no longer be functional, such as stoplights. The entire traffic system would have to be redesigned, as if it isn’t already awful enough. Colors are vivid and exciting, and I can’t imagine how dull and boring life would be without them. My life is bomb.

Today was region audition day. These were auditions to make a choir at a regional level and have a chance at auditioning for higher levels such as all-state. I felt pretty confident and came out successful making 4th chair out of 41 Tenor 1s that auditioned. I’m happy, but I was still hoping for better, so I’ve got to work even harder towards my dream of making state. My life is bomb.

Today, I love donuts. They’re easily my favorite breakfast food, and I have them at least once a week on Sundays when I go to Billy’s Donuts before church. However, everyone knows that Shipley’s is truly the beat donut shop, and I would kill I have one closer than the one on Center. I’m pretty basic when it comes to flavors, I like glazed and chocolate iced for the most part. I just got into chocolate filled and I’m liking then so far. In any case donuts make a good start to any day, for sure. My life is bomb.

Today, I spent a good 4 hours or so with Blake and Adam store-hopping looking for cardboard for our physics boat project. If you aren’t familiar, we have to make a boat constructed entirely of cardboard and masking tape and get as many laps in a pool with all 3 of us in it as possible. If it sounds stupid, that’s because it is, but that’s beside the point. Looking for cardboard was both fun and stressful, but props go out to Academy who loaded us up with some nice large pieces for free. My life is bomb.
